24.01.2020 Bikeability Training Update
Great news ~ Bikeability Training will go ahead in Term 4. One parent has volunteered to attend the training course in March and another (already qualified) parent can help us out too! We still have 2 more places at the training day if you are interested in getting involved.
16.01.2020 Bikeability Training Needs YOU!
Over the past two years we have been able to offer our P5-P7s Bikeability Training. This is thanks to volunteers who did a day’s training to become Cycle Training Assistants (CTAs.)
Bikeability Scotland is the national cycle training programme for school children. It supports the next generation of confident and responsible road users.
We need 3 volunteers to run Bikeability Training, and at the moment we only have 1 left.
Want to become involved? You’ll play a hugely important role in getting kids into cycling. You don’t need to be an expert to become an instructor – anyone with experience and confidence riding a bicycle can train to be one.
We have been offered 3 places at the next training day, which will be held at our school on Monday 16th March from 9am-5pm. The day will be delivered in a progressive and supportive manner and assessment will be ongoing throughout the day.

If we can get another 2-3 volunteers trained up, it means we can continue to offer Bikeability Training to our P5s and P6s this year (and beyond!)
Please fill in the response slip (sent home today) if you can help!
Kind regards,
Miss K Mullin

15.01.2020 Seatbelt Safety
UNCRC Article 24 (health and health services)
Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
Over the past week and a half, our JRSOs have visited all six classes to remind the children how important it is to wear a seatbelt when you are in a car or a bus. The JRSOs promoted this safety message as part of our whole school Health and Wellbeing week. Miss Mullin was proud of the JRSOs for using some of their own leisure time to get the presentations ready.

In preparation for Safety Week 2019, the JRSOs led a whole school assembly about how to keep safe beside the roads at night.
