Glen Urquhart Primary School Parent Council seeks to play a positive and supportive role in the education of our children. “Parents, carers and families are by far the most important influences in children’s lives. Parents who take on a supportive role in their children’s learning make a difference in improving achievement and behaviour. Their support can play a vital role at all stages of education. For example, where parents are actively involved in reading with their children at home, their children’s reading scores improve, on average, by between 12-18 months”. (Scottish Government 2006)

Newcomers are always welcome at our meetings and any contributions from parents no matter how big or small is welcome. We would like to invite any parent or carer who would be interested in joining the Parent Council to get in contact with any current member or by contacting the school secretary. Ideally we would like to have 2 parents from each of the 6 classes in the school.
The Parent Council has made a significant contribution to improvements within the school over the last few years and we would love to have your help in continuing this great work. The Parent Council works in close partnership with the school & teachers to provide support and fund raising activities for improvements within the school, including class smartboards and other IT equipment. In recent times, we have raised significant funds for school trips and playground equipment.
